ALD Book Publisher and Printer in Sheffield

A pile of Sheffield books

Thanks for dropping in to find out a little bit more about us. We're a local Sheffield book publisher, printer and seller. We sell a huge range of books about Sheffield, including history books, photograph books and books written by local Sheffield authors.

We would love to get everybody a little bit excited in the books that Sheffield has to offer. We're proud of this city and we know that a lot of you are too. Each book in our shop captures a little bit of what is so great about the steel city.

"Show me the books he loves and I shall know the man far better than through mortal friends."
-Dawn Adams-

ALD published its first book 'Mi Amigo' in 1997 and to date have published the best part of 100 books mainly on Sheffield, Yorkshire, Derbyshire and the military.

As well as a publishing Sheffield books, we also print them. In fact, we started out as a printer in 1990 and the publishing came later.

Having said that, there has always been a family interest in publishing. ALD is a Sheffield family business and can trace its publishing roots back over three decades to the 1970s. At that time, the family run PAVIC Publications specialised in publishing educational and distance learning materials.

One of our most famous Sheffield books is Fred Pass’s

autobiographical ‘Weerz me dad?’ that has so far sold over 30,000 copies. New books, such as Sheffield comedian, Bobby Knutt’s, autobiography should be equally good sellers.

"Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly and with dilligence and attention."
--Francis Bacon--

We hope you enjoy our Sheffield books. If you would like any further information about any of the books, please get in touch.

To all of you, from all of us at ALD Books - Thank you and Happy shopping!
